Our Voice, Our Vote Arizona Thanks President Biden, Calls on Democrats to Coalesce Behind Vice President Harris

Reacting to today’s news that President Joe Biden is withdrawing from the presidential race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, Our Voice, Our Vote Arizona Executive Director Sena Mohammed issued the following statement:

“President Biden deserves immense gratitude for his decades of public service and for leading America through a time of crisis. After saving our democracy by defeating Donald Trump, President Biden steered our country through an unprecedented pandemic, staved off economic disaster and made critical investments in our future. He also made good on his promise of a seat at the table for Black Americans and others who are so often shut out of the halls of power. Nowhere is that commitment more clear than his selection of Kamala Harris as Vice President and his endorsement of her to carry forward the torch of progress.

“President Biden’s decision to leave the race is a selfless one, reflective of a leader who has put service and country first. And Vice President Harris is uniquely positioned to take up the mantle and defeat Donald Trump once and for all.

“As a Black and Asian American woman, Kamala Harris knows what it is like to have to break glass to move up in America. And we can trust her to protect the progress on the issues that matter most to our communities. She is a fierce defender of reproductive rights, voting rights, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and economic opportunity for all Americans.

“Kamala Harris has our backs, and we will have hers.

“We call on Democrats across Arizona and the country to join us in thanking President Biden for his service and quickly coalescing around Vice President Harris to be the next President of the United States.”
