OVOV AZ Executive Director Sena Mohammed: "Senator-elect Gallego ran on the issues that matter most to Arizona’s Black communities"

Earlier this week, Rep. Ruben Gallego won his bid to become Arizona's next U.S. Senator. In response, Our Voice, Our Vote Arizona (OVOV AZ) Executive Director Sena Mohammed issued the following statement:

"Congratulations to Rep. Ruben Gallego on winning his campaign to become Arizona’s next United States Senator. It’s more important than ever to have progressive representation in Congress to fight against Donald Trump’s attacks on immigrants, women, people of color, and working families. Our Voice, Our Vote Arizona endorsed Gallego early because we believe in his promise to fight for progressive Arizona values on the national stage, and we are proud to have contributed to his victory.

"Senator-elect Gallego ran on the issues that matter most to Arizona’s Black communities, like protecting women’s reproductive rights, increasing access to healthcare, and cutting essential consumer costs. For months, our staff, canvassers, and volunteers have been making phone calls and knocking on more than 750,000 doors to educate voters about the stakes in this election and how our representatives in Congress influence what happens right here in Arizona. The New American Majority showed up for Senator-elect Gallego, and now it’s his turn to stand up for us.

"Gallego was elected based on his commitment to fiercely defending our progress and ensuring our voices are heard in the halls of power, and we are excited to work with him as we continue to shape an Arizona and America that works for all of us instead of a wealthy few."
